We are going to address this one directly. No dancing around it. No getting defensive. Just an honest, clear answer from two people who have spent almost a decade building inside this industry and have seen both sides of this conversation up close.
If you have searched for us or for Enagic online and come across questions about whether this is a pyramid scheme, a scam, or something to be avoided, we understand why those questions exist. And we think they deserve a real answer.
The Difference Between a Pyramid Scheme and Network Marketing
Let us start with the legal and structural definition, because this is where the conversation usually gets muddled.
A pyramid scheme is an illegal structure where money moves from new participants to earlier ones without any real product or service changing hands. The only way anyone makes money is by recruiting more people. There is no underlying value being created. When recruitment slows, the structure collapses. The people at the bottom always lose.
Network marketing, also called direct sales or multi-level marketing, is a legal business model in which distributors earn income by selling real products or services to real customers. Some models also include a team-building element, where you can earn additional income when the people you have brought in make sales of their own. This is sometimes called leverage, and it is not a scam. It is the same structure used by sales teams, real estate brokerages, and franchises across the global economy.
The key distinction is simple: does a real product exchange hands with a real customer? If yes, it is not a pyramid scheme by definition. If the only way to make money is to recruit, with no real product involved, that is where it becomes illegal and predatory.
What We Actually Do
We are distributors for Enagic, a Japanese wellness company that has been operating for over fifty years and manufactures Kangen Water ionization systems. These are physical products — water filtration and ionization machines — that thousands of real people purchase, use daily, and reorder because they believe in them.
We get paid when products are sold. Not when people sign up. The signature event that triggers a commission in our business is a customer purchasing a machine, not another distributor joining the network.
In fact, you do not need to build a team at all to earn in this model. Some of our most productive community members simply share the products, find customers who want them, and earn directly from those sales. The team-building side of the business is a choice, not a requirement. And when people do build teams, they earn additional income from the sales activity that their team generates — not from the act of recruiting itself.
That distinction matters enormously, both legally and ethically.
Why the Pyramid Scheme Label Gets Applied
We are not naive about why the criticism exists. The network marketing industry has a complicated history, and there are companies and individuals within it who have operated in ways that gave the whole space a bad name.
Aggressive recruiting without proper onboarding. Income claims that were not grounded in reality. High-pressure tactics that preyed on people who were vulnerable and looking for hope. These things have happened. We have no interest in defending the worst examples of this industry.
What we do have an interest in is being honest about what we have actually built, and what Enagic actually is, and letting people make an informed decision based on facts rather than reflexive skepticism.
If this was a pyramid scheme, we would not still be here almost ten years later. The people at the bottom of our team would not still be here. The ones who joined us in 2016 would have left long ago. Instead, some of our original team members are still building their businesses today. That does not happen in a scheme that only works for people at the top.
What We Have Actually Seen
We have watched people on our team go from financial pressure and uncertainty to owning their first home, taking their families on trips they never thought they could afford, and building income streams that continued to grow even while they were sleeping or traveling.
We have also watched people join, not put in the work, and not see results. That happens too. And we are honest about it. Because this is a business. It requires effort, consistency, and a willingness to learn. It is not a lottery ticket.
What it is, is a legitimate opportunity backed by a real product from a company with a long track record, supported by a community and training infrastructure that we have spent a decade building specifically to help people succeed.
How to Do Your Own Research
We want you to do your homework. In fact, we encourage it.
Look up Enagic independently. Read about the company history, the product line, the compensation structure. Talk to real distributors, not just us, about their actual experience. Ask specific questions about how commissions are calculated and when they are paid.
Look into the legal definition of a pyramid scheme and compare it against what we have described here. Ask yourself whether there is a real product. Whether real customers exist. Whether the income model depends entirely on recruitment or whether it is grounded in sales.
And if after doing all of that you still have questions, reach out. We would rather spend time talking to someone who has genuine doubts and come away with clarity than have someone dismiss this out of hand based on a label that does not actually apply.
One Last Thing
We understand that the network marketing space has earned some skepticism. We are not asking you to take our word for anything without question.
What we are asking is that you look at the actual evidence. Almost ten years. A global community of underdogs over 275,000 people. Real products, real customers, real income, real lives changed. The people who call this a pyramid scheme have usually not taken the time to understand what it actually is. And that is okay. But we are not going to let that misunderstanding define what we have built here.
We built something real. We are proud of it. And we are happy to talk through any part of it with anyone who genuinely wants to understand.
